The Journey Inwards: Discovering True Beauty
Once pursuing a path toward medicine, my journey took an unexpected turn into Hollywood and Nollywood makeup artistry in 2006. For years, I worked with high-profile clients across film, television, and editorial spaces. Yet, it was eventually entering the deep silence of a cloistered monastery as a nun and not seeing my face for two years — the monastery had no mirrors — that I experienced an interior transformation.
I realized a universal truth: beauty is not something we apply, but a dignity we awaken. In the stillness of the monastery, away from the makeup brushes and studio lights, a sobering truth became clear. Throughout my career, I witnessed high-profile individuals deeply suffering from low self-worth. The more makeup I applied, the more I discovered that luminous makeup alone could not mend interior brokenness.
True Beauty cannot be built from the outside; it is an identity already etched into the soul of every person.
Answering a mystical calling, I entered a cloistered monastery and became a nun — a space I can only describe as Heaven on earth. Living without mirrors for two years in the monastery meant completely detaching from my physical canvas and from the instrument my clients and I used to measure beauty success: a mirror!
It was in that total absence of my outward reflection that I was granted a first-hand encounter with where True Beauty originates from: interior-first.
Every step of my journey — from high-pressure film sets to the absolute 23 hours/day of meditative silence of my monastic cell — was preparing me for this mission. When I decided to depart from the monastery after years of discernment, I knew my mission was to bring those deep insights back into the world.
Today, using my voice, my pen, and my refined artistry skills, I teach others how to discover and walk in the absolute truth of their identity with a spirit of freedom.
I envision a world where every individual breaks free from fear and shame and realizes their true worth, lives out their values, and encounters authentic truth.
